Tottenham has appointed Harry Redknapp as its new manager following the firing of Juande Ramos.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said Sunday he enticed Redknapp from Portsmouth with the task of “reinvigorating and restoring confidence to a squad of highly talented international players.”

Spurs are bottom of the Premier League with just two points from eight matches.

Redknapp said Spurs will pay compensation of five million pounds (US$8 million; ?6 million) to Portsmouth.
